CAPE TOWN
Cape Town is undoubtedly the jewel of the Republic of South Africa. With its more than three million inhabitants, it is the second-largest metropolis in the Republic of South Africa, the capital of the Western Cape province, and also the main legislative city of the country. The South African Parliament and other institutions are located here.
Thanks to its natural scenery, Cape Town is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world and has become a popular tourist destination. Cape Town was the first European settlement in what is now the Republic of South Africa, which is why it is often referred to by South Africans as the 'Mother City.
One of the most famous natural landmarks of Cape Town is Table Mountain, around which Table Mountain National Park is spread. The breathtaking scenery also includes the mountainous Cape Peninsula, ending in the Cape of Good Hope. Due to the beautiful view of the Atlantic and nearby mountains, many tourists also enjoy driving the narrow Chapman's Peak Drive, connecting the towns of Noordhoek and Hout Bay.
Thanks to Cape Town's unique location, it's possible to visit several different types of beaches set in diverse natural environments in just one day. Beaches along the Atlantic Ocean usually have colder water, while the water in False Bay is, on average, 10°C warmer. The most famous Cape Town beach, Boulders Beach, is known for its colony of African penguins.
Nearby towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek are popular destinations for wine lovers. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for whale and dolphin watching; the town of Hermanus is famous for its whale festival.
